| | Today we met our bus driver, Matt from Holland who is quite a character. We loaded up the bus and then spent the morning at the Orsay museum before heading out of town via the Champs-Elysees and past the Arc de Triomphe on our way to Burgundy. It was a beautiful ride through the French countryside, gently rolling hills dotted with farms and forest. We arrived in Beaune around 5:00 pm, a great little town in the heart of Burgundy, known for their wine. We are only staying here 1 night, which is not long enough. After checking into the hotel we went to a local 'Cave' (wine cellar), for a wine tasting and then a typical dinner of Beef Burgone. The wine tasting was definetly a big hit with the tour members, everyone had a great time. After dinner we strolled through the town, people watching and listening to the yells of soccer fans as France beat Spain in the World Cup. You could hear people singing, shouting and honking their car horns until late in the night. |
