Kinsale is a very cute little town with narrow winding streets, colored houses and window boxes full of flowers. The people here are so friendly, you can't walk down the street without the locals saying hello or good morning to you. We are staying in the 'Old Bakery Bed & Breakfast' right in the old part of town, with some very nice hosts, Chrissy and Tom. A big group of us ate dinner together and then went to a pub for some Guiness, cider and to llisten to some traditional Irish music. The singer was really great, and the place was packed. Bobby knew the words to every song and sang along while the rest of us nursed our beers or cider. They make a hard apple cider here that is very good, but you have to be careful because it is also very strong. I had one with dinner and another at the bar and I was feeling no pain. Today we are going on a walking tour of the old town center and then to St. Charles Fort, a star-shaped fortress built by the English to protect the harbor. Evidently, there was a Spanish invasion here in the early 1500's, where the Gaelic chiefs had made an alliance with the Spanish in hopes of driving the English from Ireland. The English defeated them both and built this fort to prevent any further invasions. I will updload some pics of the fort and town later today.
