| Bon giorno from Venice!
We arrived late yesterday afternoon after a long, hot bus ride. We left the bus in a parking lot and took a Vaporetto (the water taxi's in Venice) into the city to our hotel, as there are no cars in the entire city. It was a little stressful getting all the tour members loaded on and off the vaporetto together, but we made it without any problems. The vaporetto ride down the Grand Canal is pretty impressive, esp. if you have never been here before, which most of our tour members have not. We took a gondola ride together right at sunset, complete with accordian player, singer and champagne, which was the highlight of the trip so far for most of the tour members. This morning we had a walking tour of the city, then let everyone go to explore on their own. I have spent the day walking around, taking pictures and drinking limone granitas, mmmm. It is hot, muggy and crowded here and I am going to find a quiet little cafe on some back lane and relax until meeting Paul, the guide for dinner. I will upload some pictures in a few days.
Ciao for now. |
