| | This morning we boarded our bus and left Dublin for Kinsale, with a stop at Powerscourt Gardens and the Rock of Cashell on the way. The gardens are beautiful, about an hour south of Dublin in what used to be an English manor house. We had about an hour to walk around and grab a coffee before heading south toward Cashell. The Rock of Cashell is a large rock outcrop with some castle ruins on top of it. It had been a pagan religious site for centuries before becoming a Catholic monastary and church, until it was destroyed by the English in the 1600's. It has an amazing view from the top and a cool old graveyard in the castle grounds. |
