Today I arrived in Murten and began researching on my own. Its a small, medieval city, with most of the town wall still intact. Its a good place to start out on my own as its pretty small and there aren't a whole lot of listings in this chapter. I made a list of the tasks I had to do, then set off to work. It will take me a some time to get a system down so I am more efficient. For instance, I went to the Tourist Information office to gather the usual info, only to realize I didn't have my phone card with me to follow up on some details, so I had to walk back across town to the hotel, then back again. There is a Rick Steves tour staying at my hotel, which was pretty funny. I met the guide, Susanna, who is my co-worker Mary's sister-in-law. She is also the person who last updated the Switzerland book I am working on. We were both pretty busy, so didn't have much time to chat, but it was nice to meet her.
