| I arrived in Paris this afternoon on the train in less than 3 hours, amazing. The TGV train station in Avignon is like something out of Star Trek, I will post an inside shot for you to see. I usually not a big fan of most modern architecture, but this station is pretty cool. I left the sunny skies of Provence and entered the gray, rainy, Seattle-like weather of Paris, but I don't mind. I am ready to come home and the rain makes me homesick. I am sitting in a small cafe, sipping my last French cafe au lait and munching on a pan au chocolat, people watching and killing time before I head to the airport. Have I mentioned how much I love this city? Such an amazing place. No matter how many times I come to Paris I never get tired of it.
Last nigtht I decided to splurge and have my last French dinner at Cafe Bastoche, the same restaurant the tour ate at on our first night. The owners Sylvie and Lise were so nice, knowing how stressed out I was that night because the guide was sick. I had to come back to thank them and also because I enjoyed the meal so much. And what an amazing meal it was; steak with a peppercorn sauce, a green salad with toasts of goat cheese, a half-bottle of Cotes du Rhone wine and creme brulee for dessert. When I asked for the check, Sylvie brought me a glass of champagne and said, "For your last dinner in Paris, you pay nothing." How sweet was that? Well, I may have got a free meal, but she got a customer for life. I will eat here every time I come to Paris. Good food and nice people. Well, its time to say au revoir à Paris and head to the airport. |
